The Main Hall and the four other areas are available to hire on a weekly, term-time only, six monthly, or for a one-off basis for daytime children's parties, exhibitions, fundraising events, funeral wakes, cultural celebrations, meetings, rehearsals, filming, training and classes.  The Community Centre is closed for two weeks over Christmas and for the New Year, and for all Bank Holidays and Bank Holiday weekends.  (See individual area descriptions to see suitability.)


Morton Hall Community Centre, a registered charity, and not for profit organisation is currently undergoing a series of repairs and improvements.  This is thanks to The New Homes Bonus Grant of £16,566.79 from Cheshire East Council, our own contribution of £5,000, and a £2,000.00 from Macclesfield Town Council.  Total cash to be spent will be £23,566.79.  So our facilities will be even better, for everyone to use, to meet new friends and to make new memories.  Macclesfield's "Hidden Gem" 

Venue hire

MAIN HALL (up to 100 people) – From £15.00 an hour. From £20.00 an hour after 6p.m., from £30.00 an hour for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  (NB

Full use of the kitchen for food preparation, or heating/warming or cooking food. Price on application,(Please pre-book this facilitiy.)

The Basement Hovis Room (Seats 18/20 people in "Board Room" style, and up to 30 people in "Theatre" style  From £10.00 an hour, from £12.50 from 6p.m. and from £20.00 an hour on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Office (up to 6 people; located under the stage) and The Committee Room (up to 6 people also under the stage) Price per hour available on application.  Both these areas are accessed via the side entrance. They may only be booked in conjuction with other booked areas

The BasementMulti-purpose Room – with its own separate entrance – from £12.50 an hour; from £17.50 an hour after 6p.m. and from £25.00 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  Ideal for Training and Meetings where more space is required, when the Main Hall is not available


Tea and Coffee making facilities are now available in or adjacent to all five areas.  Please bring your own supplies.

The Main Hall (The Morton Hall)

Dimensions: 9.4 m x 17.6 m including stage

empty floor space is about 9 x 9.4 m


The Main Hall is a large, flexible space suitable for a variety of uses.  It has a capacity of 200 and will hold up to 100 people as a seated audience in theatre style, or with tables and chairs, or one or two bouncy castles at a children's party. Please note that playing football (and similar ball games) is NOT permitted. Nor may dry ice, smoke, snow, bubbles, slime, candles or fireworks be used inside or outside the building.   Ride-ons, scooters, bikes, and wheelie trainers may also not be brought into the building either by the hirer or as part of a booked entertainment package.


The prices for regular bookings start from £15.00 an hour, and increase to from £20.00 an hour after 6p.m., and from £30.00 an hour for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Includes use of the stage, and of the kitchen to make drinks and use of dishwasher. Full use of the kitchen for food preparation/heating/warming/cooking food, price on application. 

With vertical blinds to all windows, the room has a high, domed ceiling which has been fitted with specialist acoustic panelling to make it an ideal venue for music groups wanting to rehearse or perform here.


The room has a polished wooden floor suitable for dancing and at the back of the hall there is a soft seating area.  The main hall is linked to the adjoining kitchen by an electronic serving hatch.

The hall is well maintained and is a light, clean environment. 


The stage is fitted with a black backdrop cloth and sliding curtains operated by a pulley.  There is access to the stage from the hall and also from two changing room areas backstage.  There are separate gents and ladies cloaks.

Spotlights and stage lighting are available and a bespoke sound system is fitted. 


We have the PIONEER PD-271 CD player and the InterM PAM-120 Public Address Amplifier (120W) that are located on the stage.

The Downstairs Meeting Room (The Hovis Room)

Situated in the basement of the building, this room is accessed via a separate internal staircase. It is 9m x 6m. This windowless room is ideal for private or business meetings, keynote presentations, and can seat  up to 18/20 in "Board Room" style, up to 30 in "Theatre" style. (New photograph to follow)  


It has been newly re-carpeted, and has newly installed tea/coffee making facilities.  It is furnished with board room style tables and chairs (not shown) kindly donated to us from Mr A Brooks in 2018 from Macclesfield Activy Centre when unfortunately it had to close.  A white board,  projector and screen are also available on request.  A quiet and comfortable training/meeting room space.

This room is available for hire from £10.00 an hour up to 6p.m. from £12.50 an hour after 6 p.m., and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from £20.00 an hour.


The small car park at the front of the building only holds approximately 12 vehicles. NB The land behind the Hall does not belong to us, and may not be used to extend parking facilities, but there is also street parking on Union Road

This room has a special reinforced ceiling which was designed when Morton Hall was originally built as an air raid shelter and social club for the nearby Hovis Mill workers back in 1939. 


Its usual setting is "Board Room" not shown here, but can sometimes be booked to be used in "Theatre Style" as shown here or "Class Room" style. 


The Basement Multi-Purpose Room  


This is a fairly newly released area previously rented out long term to a local Snooker Club, and shares the special reinforced ceiling with the adjacent Hovis Meeting Room.


In the Basement, it is a large spacious carpeted room is 3/4 of the size of the Main Hall. It can seat up to 40 people and has its own separate side entrance it comes with the use of the nearby Committee Room for "break outs" or to make hot drinks. 


The Multi-Purpose Room It is very suitable for training days, presentations, meetings, rehearsals, and smaller classes. Priced from £12.50 an hour up to 6p.m. and then £17.50 an hour from 6p.m. and from £25.00 an hour on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  An alternative to the Main Hall when not available, but is not suitable for Children's Parties or events requiring floor space only.


Can be equipped with a white board, flip chart holder, projector and screen on request.

The Commercial Kitchen

The Kitchen was rebuilt and re-equipped to commercial standards in August 2017. It is now linked by an electronic hatch into the Main Hall, and the entrance door and the hatch both are linked to the fire alarms and they will automatically close when the fire alarms sound.


The kitchen is now fitted with a commercial double sink for pan and food wash, a hand wash sink, a further sink for washing up by hand, a commercial cooker, a dishwasher, a commercial larder fridge, an automatic water boiler providing constant boiling water, and a range of stainless steel food preparation tables, and shelves, as well as a pan rack, and a commercial electronic insect killer, and window mesh.  There is also a range of pans and cooking equipment.


Thanks to a grant from Macclesfield Town Council in 2017 we were also able to purchase a large range of additional cooking equipment such as a commercial toaster, commercial microwave, commercial colour coded chopping boards, a soup kettle, a commercial blender, catering size tea pots, an Airpot, a catering trolley, and a range of pans and other smaller items of catering equipment etc.


Thanks to a grant from Cheshire East Council also in 2017, we were also able to purchase a good range of white catering china to include side plates, soup dishes, dinner plates, dessert plates, cups and saucers, and stainless steel cutlery for 100 covers to match the seating function capacity of the Main Hall which is up to 100.


Use of the kitchen to make drinks, store food in the larder fridge, and use of the dishwasher only is included free of charge for bookings of two or more consecutive hourly bookings in conjunction with the Main Hall. When food preparation/or heating/or warming/or cooking food or use for any other purpose is required this must be pre-booked for which there is an additional hourly charge,  We can then ensure it is fully equipped to your meet your needs as well as any additional items such the catering china, cutlery, and additional portable cooking equipment. 


NB Users of the Commercial Kitchen may not bring in deep fat fryers or other electrical cookery equipment.                                                                Price for full use on application 

The Office (approx 4m x 2.5m)

Located under the stage, at ground level, seating up to 6 people with its own adjacent unisex toilet.  This room is available to supplement  other bookings held in the Hall at the same time, or for Hall Management Meetings, and is also used as our Volunteer Base Room. New tea/coffee making facilities have recently been installed.


The Committee Room (Not shown)

Also located under the stage, with an adjacent unisex toilet, is also at ground level and is of a similar size, and can also seat up to 6 people.  It does have tea/coffee making facilities, and is booked out in conjunction with the Multi-purpose Room as a "break out" comfort, or refreshment area.  When the Multi-Purpose Room is not in use, it can be booked for one-off meetings when the Hall is open.


Hourly rates on application.  Both these areas were redecorated in 2018 by young people from The Prince's Trust, and further improvements made to their facilities in late 2019, thanks to The New Homes Bonus Grant Funding.  Updated photographs to follow.


Thanks must also go to Astrazeneca  for their 25 Volunteers who joined us for a day in November 2019 to redecorate many areas of the building.


There is no WiFi at the Hall, but 3G and 4G connections should work.


Both are quiet rooms sharing a separate side entrance mainly on the level with a couple of steps down.


Also from 2020 they may be booked as Dressing/Changing Rooms, with a Main Hall booking when the stage is being used, as well as for supplementary meeting or interview rooms.


Accessible facilities

Morton Hall can be accessed by a ramp at the rear of the building which leads into the main hall. 


There is an accessible uni-sex toilet on the ground floor behind the kitchen. This is also fitted with baby changing facilities.


The main hall also has a hearing loop.

Car Park

The car park at the front of the building holds up to 12 vehicles. It is free for users of the Hall.  Please note that the land at the back of the Hall is not owned by us, and should not be used except for access via the ramp

Please note:

  • It is expected that you leave the Hall and all areas you have used in a clean and tidy condition "as found" ready for the next hiring - as you would wish to find them - taking off site all rubbish you may have accumulated as we don't have a refuse collection service. 
  • You will be asked to pay a Housekeeping Deposit which is refundable in full after the Event only if no damage, missing items, additional cleaning or Volunteer time is required to restore any areas used ready for the next booking.
  • We also ask you to complete our Hiring Agreement, and make full pre-payment before a firm booking is made. 
  • Electrical equipment, including heaters, fans, cooking appliances, etc.,may not be brought in without permission from the Management Committee. If agreed, it must be PAT tested.
  • All external doors must be kept closed to prevent noise disturbance to our neighbours
  • You may decorate the hall with balloons and banners but please ensure you only use blu-tack or similar to attach these to walls (no sellotape) and then are taken down afterwards.
  • Fireworks are not permitted inside or out nor candles, except on the Birthday Cake.
  • Playing football or other ball games is not permitted inside or outside the Hall. Nor is dry Ice, smoke, snow, bubbles, or slime. Nor are scooters, bikes, ride-ons, roller skates and skate boards. Please make your entertainer aware of these restrictions
  • The terms of our license require all users must exit the Hall no later than 11p.m with Events finishing promptly at 10.30 p.m. We do not have bar facilities, provide any glassware nor are licensed to sell alcohol.
  • Dogs. with the exception of assistance dogs, are only permitted in the Main Hall.
