Morton hall is the largest community centre on the eastern side of Macclesfield. We are a non-profit making registered charity, run entirely by a small group of Volunteers. We are always grateful when new Volunteers come forward and are able to help in any way. There is always a job to be done, whether it be painting, simple maintenance tasks, sweeping up the leaves, gardening, checking on things etc.so that we can provide the best possible service to all our many hirers, with our limited resources.
We need more people to volunteer a little time of their time, and to offer their help, skills and expertise, to keep the hall open and to remain able to serve our community. Perhaps you have been to a class here, or a social event, or attended the Hall when it was a Youth Club, and would like to help us keep the hall running?
There is no need to make a huge commitment, just help when you can. We understand that you cannot always be available, and would be willing to help us on other occasions. Volunteering for us can be very flexible to fit in with your life style and current commitments. Some Volunteering tasks such as Opening /or Closing, or popping in to check things, can take as little as 15 minutes, but without this help, if no-one is available on a requested date, we may have to turn bookings away, which is not our aim, and disappointing too for the potential hirer.
On our wish list, we currently need people who have a little free time to drop in to Check on things at the hall, but also others - one or two people - who can help with our Monthly Coffee Mornings, perhaps by looking after the Tombola Stall, also to take responsibility for Healthand Safety, and complete and oversee statutory testing. Also with Marketing/Publicity/Graphic Design, as well as joining the team of Volunteers who take turns to occasionally Opening and /or Close the Hall. for one-off events. We also need a Bookings Secretary (working from home), an experienced Minute Secretary able to attend our bi-monthly meetings, and an experienced Caterer to take care of our new commercial kitchen, and to promote it with our own In-house Events, Also help with simple maintenance tasks and re-decoration. From May 2020 we are also looking for a new Chairperson and Trustee who will take the Hall forward into its 80th year, and additional Trustees with these or other specific skills which we currently lack.
If you would like to help in any way, then please contact us via e-mail - firstname.lastname@example.org confirming what you would like to do.
