Venue hire

The hall is available for daytime children's parties, fundraising events, funeral wakes and cultural celebrations.


Weekend bookings start at 12 noon with access from 11.30, and 3p.m. with access from 2.30pm.


Outside the hiring times we allow an earlier + afterwards additional

  • 15 + 15 minutes (classes)
  • 30 + 30 minutes (events or parties)

to set up for your class or party, and afterwards to clear away so that you can remove any decorations, take away rubbish and leave the hall in a clean and tidy condition.  DON'T INCLUDE THESE ACCESS TIMES IN YOUR BOOKING, only your class, party or event time. If you need more than 15 or 30 minutes please contact us.


E.g. if your party starts at 12 noon, we will open up the Hall for you at 11:30am. If your party ends at 2pm, we will close the Hall at 2:30pm. On the booking form please select 12 noon - 2pm.


Likewise this would also apply to the next booking slot 3pm to 5pm as our bookings are only taken on the hour rather than at half hours (i.e. 3pm to 5pm rather than 3.30 to 5.30).

MAIN HALL (up to 100 people) – From £15.00 an hour. From £20.00 an hour after 6p.m., from £30.00 an hour for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Full use of the kitchen for food preparation, heating/warming and cooking food, prices on application. (Please pre-book these facilities.)

The Basement Hovis Room (up to 22 people) – From £7.00 an hour, from £8.00 from 6p.m. and from £10.00 an hour on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The Office (up to 6 people; located under the stage) and the Committee Room from £5.00 an hour.
The Basement – Multi-purpose Room – with its own separate entrance – from £10.00 an hour; from £15.00 an hour after 6p.m. and from £20.00 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Main Hall (The Morton Hall)

Dimensions: 9.4 m x 17.6 m including stage

empty floor space is about 9 x 9.4 m


The hall is a large, flexible space suitable for a variety of uses.  It has a capacity of 200 and will hold up to 100 people with tables and chairs, or two bouncy castles at a children's party. Please note that playing football (and similar ball games) is NOT permitted.


The prices start from £15.00 an hour, and increase to from £20.00 an hour after 6p.m., and from £30.00 an hour for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Includes use of the stage, and of the kitchen to make drinks and use of dishwasher. Full use of the kitchen for food preparation and cooking, prices on application.

With vertical blinds to all windows, the room has a high, domed ceiling which has been fitted with specialist acoustic panelling to make it an ideal venue for music groups wanting to rehearse or perform here.


The room has a polished wooden floor suitable for dancing and at the back of the hall there is a soft seating area.  The main hall is linked to the adjoining kitchen by a serving hatch.

The hall is well maintained and is a light, clean environment. 


The stage is fitted with a black backdrop cloth and sliding curtains operated by a pulley.  There is access to the stage from the hall and also from two changing room areas backstage.  There are separate gents and ladies cloaks.

Spotlights and stage lighting are available and a bespoke sound system is fitted. 


We have the PIONEER PD-271 CD player and the InterM PAM-120 Public Address Amplifier (120W) that are located on the stage.

The Downstairs Meeting Room (The Hovis Room)

Situated in the basement of the building, this room can be accessed via steps through the kitchen, and is 9m x 6m. This windowless room is ideal for private or business meetings, keynote presentations, and can accommodate up to 22 people.


It is carpeted and has recently been furnished with office tables and chairs.

This room is available for hire from £7.00 an hour, raising to from £8.00 from 6p.m. and from £10.00 an hour on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.


The car park at the front of the building holds approximately 8 vehicles.

This room has a special reinforced ceiling which was designed when Morton Hall was originally built as an air raid shelter and social club for the nearby Hovis Mill workers back in 1939. 

New Commercial Kitchen

The Kitchen was rebuilt and re-equipped to commercial standards in August 2017. It is now linked by an electronic hatch into the Main Hall, and the entrance door and the hatch both are linked to the fire alarms and they will automatically close when the fire alarms sound.


The kitchen is now fitted with a commercial double sink for pan and food wash, a hand wash sink, a further sink for washing up by hand, a commercial cooker, a dishwasher, a commercial larder fridge, an automatic water boiler providing constant boiling water, and a range of stainless steel food preparation tables, and shelves, as well as a pan rack, and a commercial electronic insect killer, and window mesh.


Thanks to a grant from Macclesfield Town Council we were also able to purchase a large range of additional cooking equipment such as a commercial toaster, commercial microwave, commercial colour coded chopping boards, a soup kettle, a commercial blender, catering size tea pots, an Airpot, a catering trolley, and a range of pans and other smaller items of catering equipment etc.


Thanks to a grant from Cheshire East, we were also able to purchase a good range of white catering china to include side plates, soup dishes, dinner plates, dessert plates, cups and saucers, and stainless steel cutlery for 100 covers to match the seating capacity of the Hall which is up to 100.


Use of the kitchen is included free of charge for two or more hour bookings, to make drinks, use the dishwasher, and use the larder fridge, but full use for food preparation and heating/warming/cooking food must be pre-booked, as well as the catering china and cutlery. (Price on application.)  

The Office (approx 4m x 2.5m)

Located under the stage, at ground level, with its own separate entrance, the room is ideal for small meetings, 1-2-1 classes, or training sessions for small groups.


The room seats up to 6 people. There is a window, and a small toilet adjacent to the room. There are no kitchen nor tea making facilities in or near the room, but the hirer can use the Hall's kitchen located on the opposite end of the building.


The hire fee starts from £5 per hour.

Currently the Office is used by small groups on weekdays.


There is no WiFi at the Hall, but 3G and 4G connections should work.


It is a quiet room with the window overlooking our neighbour's (commercial) car park and further the Macclesfield Canal.


Our car park is located on the other side, in front of the building, and can accommodate up to 8 cars.

Disabled facilities

Morton Hall can be accessed by a ramp at the rear of the building which leads into the main hall. 


There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor behind the kitchen. 


The main hall is also fitted with a hearing loop.

Car Park

The car park at the front of the building holds approximately 8 vehicles. It is free, there is no extra charge for parking.

Please note:

  • The hall is not staffed. Our Caretaker or one of our Volunteers will arrive to open up half an hour before your event is due to start. They will return at the end of your event and you will then have half an hour to clear away.
  • There is no refuse collection from Morton Hall. All rubbish MUST be taken away at the end of your event.
  • Please leave the Hall in a clean and tidy condition. Any additional cleaning costs above those normally carried out would be charged to the hirer.
  • You may decorate the hall with balloons and banners but please ensure you only use blu-tack or similar to attach these to walls (no sellotape) and they are taken away afterwards.
  • Noise can be a nuisance to our neighbours, so please keep the Hall doors closed.
  • Fireworks or candles are NOT permitted. Playing football etc. is NOT permitted.
  • The terms of our license require all users to exit the hall by 11.30 pm at the latest. Any over-run WILL incur a penalty charge.
